Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel forward
Hannah Stoneman (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Hiland) recorded a double-double Wednesday, her third of the season, but it wasn't enough for the Tomcats in a 72-63 loss to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets.
The Tomcats trailed the Yellow Jackets at the half, 34-31. Thiel went on to capture the lead early in the second half and held a 5-point lead, its largest of the game, with 8:51 remaining in regulation after Stoneman hit a short jumper.
The rest of the game belonged to the Yellow Jackets, however, who ended the game with a 23-9 run to earn the 72-63 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory.
Stoneman tallied a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with 12 points. Senior guard
Bethany Hines (Youngstown, Ohio/Youngstown Early College) led the Tomcats with 15 points while adding five rebounds. In addition,
Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) scored 10 points and pulled down five rebounds.
Waynesburg's Hayden Giuliani led all player with 21 points, thanks in part to a 5-for-7 margin from 3-point range. Courtney Sargent and Katie Gehlmann also chipped in 15 and 13 points for the Yellow Jackets, respectively.
The Tomcats (3-10, 2-5 PAC) will host the Grove City Wolverines Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
