GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team picked up its first win of 2013 with a 12-0 victory over Penn State Beaver at Alumni Stadium in non-conference action Wednesday.
The Tomcats (1-1) had 10 different players register goals as they picked up their first victory of the season and also snapped a five-game winless streak in the process.
Thiel needed just 5:19 to strike for the first time when senior Taryn Benner (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington ) sent a ball over the top of the defense to Berg, who beat the outstretched Lion goalkeeper to open scoring.
The Tomcats added seven more goals in the first half with Berg scoring her second to put Thiel up 4-0 by the 18th minute.
Junior Chey Ross (Sigel, Pa./Brookville), Ehrlich, Jeschelnig and Kelley Bellia (Beaver, Pa./Blackhawk) capped the Thiel scoring with a goal each in the second half.
Amanda Donatelli made 18 saves for the Lions, who were outshot 57-0. Freshman Jessica Scott (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) picked up the win for Thiel.
The Tomcats are back in action on Thursday when they take on D'Youville College. Kickoff at Alumni Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
