Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa.—Three different Tomcats scored as the Thiel College women's soccer team defeated the Hilbert College Hawks, 4-1, Thursday evening at Alumni Stadium.
Thiel moves to 4-3 with its third-straight victory, while the Hawks fall to 1-4. The Tomcats have out-scored their opponents 10-3 over the last three games.
Junior
Nicole Jeschelnig (Madison, Ohio/Madison) scored the first goal of the game, assisted by freshman
Elizabeth Wilkinson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) in the 5th minute. The Hawks tied the game up 20 minutes later on a free-kick goal by Courtney Vaccaro.
The Tomcats responded with the first of three unanswered goals in the 32
nd minute as
Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River)'s team-best fifth goal of the season staked Thiel to a 2-1 lead at the half.
The second half was all Thiel, as junior
Chey Ross (Sigel, Pa./Brookville) put the Tomcats up 3-1, when a cross from Wilkinson in the 46th minute found Ross's foot and then the back of the net. The Brookville High product added her second goal of the contest in the 77
th minute on a pass from Berg to close out the scoring for Thiel.
Thiel out-shot Hilbert 20-4, led by Berg with five. Freshman goalkeeper
Jessica Scott (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) got the win in the net for the Tomcats, making one save to pick up her third win of the season.
The Tomcats are back in action Saturday when they travel to Greensburg, Pa. to take on the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
