Thiel Women’s Soccer posts 4-1 win over Medaille

Jenna Ehrlich scored two goals Monday in Thiel's 4-1 win over Medaille College.
Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – Freshman forward Jenna Ehrlich (Arnold, Pa./Burrell) scored twice while teammate Elizabeth Wilkinson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) contributed a goal and an assist Monday in Thiel's 4-1 women's soccer victory over Medaille College at Alumni Stadium.
 
The Tomcats improved to 3-3 on the season with the win while the Medaille Mavericks fell to 1-4.
 
Ehlrich opened scoring in the third minute to stake Thiel to a 1-0 lead. The Arnold, Pa. native tallied the fourth Tomcat goal at 77:35, rebounding her own shot and blasting it by the outstretched Maverick goalkeeper for her second goal of the night, and third of the season.
 
Wilkinson, a freshman midfielder from Apollo, Pa., gave the Tomcats a 2-1 lead at 13:16 when she took a pass from senior Taryn Benner (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington ) and found the back of the net.
 
Forward Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River) scored the third Thiel goal, a breakaway that beat the Maverick goalkeeper at the 39:39 mark. Berg has been a catalyst for the Thiel offensive thus far this season, accumulating four goals in the team's three wins.
 
Medaille got on the scoreboard eight minutes into the contests as Mackenzie Berger's high shot was just out of the reach of a fully extended Mary Oakey (Baltimore, Md. /Mercy ).
 
Oakey registered six saves for the Tomcats, who outshot the Mavericks 24-10. Denay O'Connor was credited with 10 saves for Medaille.
 
The Tomcats return to action on Thursday when they host Hilbert College at 6 p.m.
