Box Score CRESSON, Pa. –
Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River) scored in double overtime at the 107-minute mark of the contest to give the Thiel College women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over the Mount Aloysius Mounties Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, the Tomcats found themselves down 1-0 five minutes into the second half when Mount Aloysius' Olivia Woodley opened scoring.
The Tomcats evened the score, 1-1, 13 minutes later when
Nicole Jeschelnig (Madison, Ohio/Madison) scored on a feed from
Monica Ochoa (North Royalton, Ohio/Padua Franciscan).
The first overtime session went scoreless, setting up the game-winner for Berg in the second extra session. The goal was Berg's third of the season. She and Jeschelnig lead the Tomcats with three goals apiece on the season.
Jessica Scott (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) earned the win for the Tomcats with six saves. Kristin James made 10 saves, but was saddled with the loss.
The Tomcats (2-3) will return to action Monday when they host Medaille College at Alumni Stadium. The contest is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
