GREENVILLE, Pa. – Scores were tight throughout the match, but in the end the Thiel College women's tennis team opened up the 2013 season with a 7-2 loss to Mount Aloysius Friday afternoon.

After losing the first two doubles matches, the Tomcats picked up their first win at No. 3 doubles when freshmen Sara Matczak (Erie, Pa./Fairview) and Lauren Wolfe (Anita, Pa./Punxsutawney) teamed up for an 8-3 victory. Thiel's other win on the afternoon came from Lauren Mittner (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton), who picked up her first singles victory of the season at No. 2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-0.

The Tomcats (0-1) will open up Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday when they host the Westminster Titans. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
