LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team suffered an 89-43 loss Tuesday to the second-seeded Saint Vincent Bearcats in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Basketball Championship Tournament.
Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland) paced the Tomcats with 17 points and seven rebounds while
Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa./Western Reserve Academy) scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Devin McGrath recorded a game-high 19 points for Saint Vincent while Elle Collins scored 13 points. In addition, Ariel Rocco recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The loss ended the brilliant careers of Thiel seniors
Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland) and
Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa./Western Reserve Academy), both of whom scored their 1,000
th career points this season.
Barzak concluded her career as the women's basketball program's all-time career leader in blocks (288), third in points (1,401) and fifth in rebounds (773). Muffley finished her career as the program's all-time career leader in three-point field goals made (180) and fifth in points (1,238).
The Tomcats concluded the season with a record of 8-18 overall and 7-11 in the PAC.
