Stoneman nets game-high 22 points for Tomcats

Sophomore forward named to all-tournament team

Hannah Stoneman scored a game-high 22 points Sunday against the College of Wooster. A sophomore forward, Stoneman was named to the Nan Nichols Classic All-Tournament Team.
Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio – Sophomore forward Hannah Stoneman (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Hiland) scored a game-high 22 points for the Thiel College women's basketball team Sunday in an 81-70 loss to the College of Wooster during the second day of play at the Nan Nichols Classic.
 
Stoneman drained 9-of-12 shots from the floor Sunday and added four free throws for the 22-point effort, which was the best of her career. She also grabbed six rebounds.
 
Stoneman, who was named to the all-tournament team, opened her sophomore campaign Saturday with 11 points and nine rebounds in a loss to Mount Union.
 
Freshman guard Erin DiFalco (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) scored 19 points Sunday. She shot made 6-of-12 shots overall from the floor, including 5-of-10 from three-point range.
 
DiFalco hit a pair of three-pointers late in the second half to cut Wooster's lead down to seven points, but Thiel was unable to get any closer down the stretch.
 
Thiel sophomore point guard Kayla Welty (Portville, N.Y./Portville ) scored eight points while handing out five assists.
 
Four Wooster players reached double digits in scoring Sunday, including: Maura Hall (16), Sydney Failing (14), Karley Walker (13) and Lauren Hancher (12).
 
The Tomcats' home opener is Tuesday against Penn State-Behrend. The opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
