Women’s Soccer hosts Grove City

Box Score

GREENVILLE, Pa. – After falling behind early in its second Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of the season, the Thiel College women's soccer team rebounded to tie its game against Grove City. Unfortunately, the Wolverines buried three unanswered goals, including one at the end of the first half, going on to win 4-1 on Wednesday.

Grove City (5-6-1, 2-0) grabbed a brief 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of play, but the Tomcats answered when the referee whistle indicated an indirect kick at the 20-yard line for Thiel. Freshman Elizabeth Wilkinson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) tapped the ball to sophomore Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River), who tied things up by scoring her team-best eighth goal of the season in the 11th minute.

Unfortunately, the Wolverines were more than ready to respond, as they scored three unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. The home team out-shot the visiting Tomcats by a 28-to-3 margin and attempted seven corner kicks, to just one for Thiel. Freshman Jessica Scott (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown-Fitch) made eight saves in net for the Blue and Gold.

Thiel will take another shot at its first PAC win on Saturday, Oct. 12, when the Tomcats travel to Waynesburg, Pa. to face the Yellow Jackets. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
