Women’s Soccer ends road schedule with 1-1 tie

Tomcats battle to tie with Cougars

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 double overtime tie in its Presidents' Athletic Conference clash with the Chatham University Cougars Wednesday afternoon.

The Tomcats (7-9-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when sophomore Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River) scored her 11th goal of the season off an assist from freshman Jenna Ehrlich (Arnold, Pa./Burrell). Thiel's lead stood into the half as the Tomcats held a slim, 6-5 advantage in shots taken.

Thiel's lead stood at one entering the 87th minute when the Cougars broke through, finding the tying marker on a strike from 30-yards out.

Neither team could find the game-winner over two overtime periods, as the contest ended in a draw.

Sophomore Mary Oakey (Baltimore, Md. /Mercy ) made eight saves for the Tomcats.

Thiel returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 when they host Washington and Jefferson College for senior day. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
