GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel College senior guard Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa./Western Reserve Academy) recorded her 1,000^th career point Saturday in an 80-54 loss to the Thomas More Saints at Beeghly Gymnasium.
 
Muffley entered Saturday's contest with 998 career points. She earned her 1,000^th point with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half when she hit a jumper from near the foul line with just a second left on the shot clock.
 
An All-PAC honorable mention selection last season, Muffley went on to score 10 points in Saturday's loss with five assists, four rebounds and three steals. She is the 13^th player in the history of Thiel women's basketball to notch 1,000 career points.
 
Thiel senior forward Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland), who reached the 1,000-point plateau earlier this season, led the Tomcats with 15 points and 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Freshman forward Jaclyn Watkins also scored 10 points for the Tomcats.
 
Katie Kitchen led the Saints with 22 points while Jenny Burgoyne recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Also for Thomas More, Allison Long scored 17 points.
 
The Tomcats (2-11, 1-5 PAC) will return to action Wednesday when they travel to Waynesburg, Pa., to take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
