Tomcats fall to Barons, 3-1

Grimm scores first goal of season

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel's women's soccer team lost to Franciscan University of Steubenville Thursday at Alumni Stadium, 3-1.
 
The Franciscan Barons struck first on Lauren Stearman's marker four minutes and 32 seconds after the opening whistle. The Tomcats came back to tie up the score less than four minutes later when Kayce Grimm (Butler, Pa./Karns City) found the back of the net on a corner kick. It was Grimm's first goal of the season.
 
Katherine Roemer notched the go-ahead goal for the Barons a little less than seven minutes into the second half. Ashley Ruttencutter added to Franciscan's lead at the 76:55 mark.
 
The Tomcats (1-3-1) will try to get back on track Sunday when they host the Medaille College Mavericks at Alumni Stadium. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
