BETHANY, W.Va. – The women's basketball team suffered a 76-47 setback against surging Presidents' Athletic Conference opponent Bethany (4-5, 2-2 PAC) on Saturday at the Nutting Gymnasium.
Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland) was the lone Tomcat in double digits, recording 17 points and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
Kelley Muffley added nine points, while
Leanna Yeager (Poland, Ohio/Poland Seminary) chipped in five points, five rebounds and two blocks off the bench for Thiel.
Carly Garneau had a game-high 20 points on four-of-nine shooting from the three point line to lead the Bison. Five total Bison scored 10 points or more in the win on 40% (28-of-69) shooting, including 44% (10-of-23) from the three point line.
The Bison opened up the game on an 11-2 run. Unable to overcome the early deficit, the Tomcats (2-7, 1-3 PAC) played catch-up the entire night.
Thiel will return to action on Friday, December 28 when they take on University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Westerville, Ohio. Tip-off is expected at 1 pm.
