BETHANY, W.Va. - The women's soccer team (4-6-1; 1-2 PAC) defeated the Bison of Bethany College in overtime by the score of 2-1 at Bethany on Friday night.
The Tomcats scored their first goal in the 23
rd minute of the game when
Alliana Hardgrove (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) connected with the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
Thiel kept the lead until the 43rd minute of the game when the Bison's Lindsay Sparr scored to tie the game at 1-1.
The score remained tied until the 95
th minute,
when Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River) scored the “golden goal”, her first of the season, off of a free kick that pushed the Tomcats to their first Presidents' Athletic Conference win of the season. It was their first win in conference since October 15, 2011, when they beat Chatham University 2-1 in overtime.
Thiel will next travel to Grove City to take on the Wolverines on October 10. Game time is set for 4 pm.
