Skebo’s three-point effort leads Tomcats to win over Cougars

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Tomcat women's soccer team played one of its best matches of the season, defeating the Cougars of Chatham College 3-0 on Saturday.

The Tomcats wasted very little time in getting on the scoreboard, as Nichole Carlton (Beloit, Ohio/West Branch ) dribbled into the goal box and beat Cougars' keeper Liz Sawyer from six yards out in the fifth minute to make it 1-0 Tomcats.

The score remained that way until the 36th minute, when Danielle Lukaszewicz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carlynton ) scored her first goal of the season on a pass from Emily Skebo (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After the two teams played 44 minutes of scoreless soccer to start the second half, the Tomcats added a third goal, this one scored by Skebo on a corner kick from Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River) in the 89th minute to close out the match and bring home a win to Thiel.

With the win, the Tomcats improved to 2-3 (5-7-1 overall) in Presidents' Athletic Conference play and, for the first time in over five years, have won multiple PAC contests in a season.

Thiel outshot the Cougars 22-5 while also holding a 17-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Tomcats return to action on Tuesday, when they host Washington and Jefferson College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
