Thomas More Rolls to 69-47 Win at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thomas More women's basketball squad rolled to a 69-47 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over homestanding Thiel Wednesday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium.

The Saints (9-3, 5-0) finished with four players in double figures, led by a 13-point, seven-rebound effort by Moriah Corey. Katie Kitchen added 13 points, five assists, and four steals. Kelli Dixon registered 11 points and seven rebounds while Jenny Burgoyne added 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Thomas More shot just 37.7 percent (26-69) from the floor but managed to finish with a commanding 44-32 advantage on the glass.

Thiel (2-10, 2-3) was led by Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), who finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa./Western Reserve Academy) chipped in with eight points and six rebounds while Kaleigh Murphy (Yukon, Pa./Yough) added eight points on 4-of-6 shooting in 11 minutes off of the Tomcat bench.

The Tomcats shot 40.8 percent (20-49) from the floor but managed to get to the free throw line just six times, connecting on a pair (33.3%).

Thomas More jumped out to a 17-7 lead following a pair of Dixon free throws with 10:19 to go in the opening half and widened their lead to 23 after cruising to a 37-14 halftime advantage.

The Saints saw their second-half lead swell to 29, 57-28, after a Corey layup with 9:45 remaining and never relinquished the 20-point lead.

The Tomcats return to PAC action on Saturday, January 7 when they host Geneva College. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
