Kelly Barzak (Warren, Ohio, Howland) recorded five blocks in a 74-49 loss to homestanding Thomas More, breaking the Tomcats' record for blocks in a career.
Barzak entered the game with 119 blocks and ended the game with three more more than Cindy Bynum, who tallied 120 between 1984-88.
Barzak also scored a game-high 14 points but it wasn't enough as Thomas More showed why its ranked No, 1 in Division III with the lopsided win.
Seven players scored eight points or more for the Saints, who remained unbeaten at 24-0 overall and 15-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Chelsea Tolliver led the way with 13 points, Nicole Dickman bucketed 12 and Amy Stultz also reached double-figures with 10 points. Emily Sanker and Moriah Corey both came off the bench and scored nine points apiece while Allison Long and Dana Bors each finished with eight.
Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio, St. Peter Chanel) had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Tomcats, who fall to 5-19 overall and 3-12 in the conference.
Rianne Thornton (Trotwood, Ohio, Trotwood-Madison) scored eight points and
Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa., Western Reserve Academy) added six.
Thiel, which currently holds the eighth and final playoff spot, will wrap up its regular season Saturday with a home game against Chatham. Seniors
Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Wilkinsburg) and
Nina Gabrelcik (Niles, Ohio/Niles McKinley) will be honored at the game.
