WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The women's basketball team (0-6, 0-1 PAC) lost 61-49 to the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg University (3-2, 1-0 PAC) in their first conference game of the season.
The first half would remain close until the Yellow Jackets went on a 9-0 run to give them a 17-7 lead. The Tomcats would cut the lead within three when 
Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa./Western Reserve Academy) made a layup, making the score 24-21 Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg would fire back with a layup of their own by Elaine Hasek to make the score 26-21 towards the end of the half but with four seconds left, Tomcat guard 
Kiki Jackson (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) would make a layup to end the period 26-23 Waynesburg.
Thiel would fight hard in the second half, trailing the Yellow Jackets by one but Waynesburg never relinquised the lead, defeating the Tomcats 61-49.
Kelly Muffley (Salsburg, Pa./Western Reserve Academy) lead the Tomcats with 12 points while 
Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) added 10 points and five rebounds. 
Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland) collected nine rebounds and eight points.
Thiel will next play Washington & Jefferson in their home conference opener this Saturday, December 3. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
