WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Tomcat women's soccer team was defeated by a score of 4-0 by the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday evening in Washington, Pa.
Ten minutes into the contest, the Presidents struck with their first goal off of the foot of Dawn Murphy to make the score 1-0. Washington and Jefferson would then go on to add two more goals in the first half that came just three minutes apart. The first was scored by Nikki Hladik in the 33rd minute of play and the second came off the foot of Cheyenne Mangold on an assist by Tatum Marucci in the 36th minute of play. The Tomcats went into the half down 3-0.
In the second half, neither team could register a goal until the 81st minute when Mangold connected on her second goal of the contest to finish the scoring at 4-0.
In the course of the contest, the Presidents held Thiel without a shot on goal in the 4-0 victory. Despite the loss, freshman keeper
Claire Fredriks (Eastlake, Ohio/North) registered 12 saves on the day.
The Tomcats will return to conference play on Saturday the 22nd when they travel to Latrobe, Pa. to take on the Bearcats of Saint Vincent College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
