GREENVILLE, Pa. - Thiel's men's basketball team remained unbeaten in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 72-66 win over homestanding Waynesburg on Thursday night.
It was back-and-forth game for most of the way with 18 lead changes. The Tomcats finally pulled away with a 9-0 run late in the second half to go up by 13 points.
Ladell Trotty (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East) recorded a double-double in the win with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic), the team's leading scorer and the top rebounder in the conference, continued to put up solid numbers with 19 points and seven rebounds. Point guard
Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) finished with 17 points, four assists and four rebounds.
Rozenblad hit a free throw with 28 seconds on the clock to help the Tomcats tie the game 34-34 at halftime. Adams had a big first half with 12 points and two steals while Rozenblad spread his points out with nine before the break and 10 in the second half.
Waynesburg falls to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the conference while the Tomcats improve to 8-4 and 4-0 with their lone loss in Division III coming in a non-conference game against Allegheny.
Thiel will look stay atop the PAC standings when it travels to play rival Grove City on Saturday. It will be a battle of a Tomcat team looking to build on winning its first conference title since 2000 and the defending PAC champion Wolverines.
