GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Thiel College women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker at the hands of Pitt Greensburg by a score of 1-0 in overtime on Tuesday.
Stout defense was the name of the game in the first half as both teams managed just three shots apiece. Senior goalkeeper
Jill Harry (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) was able to keep the Bobcats at bay with three saves to keep the score at 0-0 going into the half.
The second half saw the Tomcats pick up the pressure as they managed to add eight shots, including five shots in the last 3:30 of regulation. However, good goalie play once again prevailed and the game was sent into overtime still scoreless.
Thiel was able to get the first real chance of the overtime stanza when freshman
Kelsey Adair (Ephrata, Pa., Ephrata Senior ) took a shot that hit the post and bounced away in the 99th minute of the contest. Moments later, the Bobcats were able to put the ball in the back of the net on a goal by Brittany Jackson to end the game by the score of 1-0 and hand Thiel its third straight loss.
The Tomcats' next contest will be Saturday when they play host to the Nittany Lions of Penn State DuBois.
