GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 non-conference loss to visiting Juniata College Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
The Eagles (1-1) and Tomcats (0-2) battled to a 0-0 draw at the half with Juniata holding a 6-0 edge in shots. The visitors tallied their initial score in the 54th minute as Aimee Radic scored off of an assist by Caitlin Bigelow before Katie Keating scored just 1:04 later (55:03) to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Bigelow closed out the scoring in the 72nd minute with an unassisted score to secure the 3-0 victory for the Eagles.
Juniata managed to outshoot the Tomcats 11-2 in the contest (6-0 shots on goal) and a held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Kristen Penska and Gabrielle Ricciardi combined to pitch the shutout with Penska working the opening 73:14 of the match and recording the only save for the Eagles.
The Thiel women's soccer side returns to action on Tuesday, September 7 when they travel to Pitt-Greensburg for a 4 p.m. match.
