HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Tomcat women's soccer team played solid defense but struggled to generate any offense as they lost to Hilbert 1-0 Wednesday.
It's been the story of the season thus far for the Tomcats. Few teams have been able to beat them handily but they have lost five games by one goal.
The lone goal for Hilbert in Wednesday's contest was scored by Alyssa Hulbert on a free kick from 40 yards out. It was one of 10 shots on goal by the Hawks. Thiel goalie
Jill Harry (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) stopped the rest to register nine saves.
The Tomcats tallied six shots on goal, including two by
Kelsey Adair (Ephrata, Pa., Ephrata Senior ).
"We had some solid performances, but the name of the game is goals and we didn't have any," Thiel coach Andy Hoggarth said.
Thiel (1-7) will host Ursuline in a non-conference matchup Saturday at noon. The game will be held at Commodore Perry High School.
