GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel women's soccer team fell by a 2-1 decision to La Roche College on Tuesday at Alumni Stadium.

The Redhawks of La Roche got on the board first after a foul in the box gave a penalty kick to forward Bethany Moreschi, which she put past senior keeper Jill Harry (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) to make the score 1-0. La Roche would hold the Tomcats at bay for the rest of the half for the 1-0 lead.

The second half saw another goal by Moreschi after a second foul in the penalty box gave her her second penalty kick of the evening. She succeeded on the kick and put the Redhawks up by a score of 2-0.

Just six minutes later the Tomcats (1-4-0) were able to get on the board after a beautiful through pass from freshman Kelsey Adair (Ephrata, Pa., Ephrata Senior ) found fellow freshman Taryn Benner (Alliance, Ohio, Marlington ) who beat the goalie to cut the Redhawk lead in half. However, the Tomcats would get no closer as La Roche handed the Blue and Gold their fourth loss of the season.

Thiel's next game will be on Thursday when they host Carlow University. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
