GREENVILLE, Pa. (June 21, 2010) – Matt Jackson has been named Assistant Director of Athletics Media at Thiel College, it was announced on Monday morning.

A native of Franklin, Pa., Jackson spent the last three years as a sportswriter at The Derrick newspaper in Oil City, Pa. While at The Derrick, he covered the high school sports beat in an area that included 21 high schools. His coverage included the past three PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Prior to his work at The Derrick, Jackson held a part-time position at the Erie Times-News. He also served as an intern at WJET-TV in Erie and served as the sports editor of his college's newspaper.

Jackson is a 2007 graduate of Mercyhurst College with a major in Communications, including concentrations in Journalism and Public Relations.
