WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 8, 2010) -- The Thiel College women's basketball team's shooting touch ran as cold as the weather in their, 52-42, loss to the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets on Monday.
Despite a defensive effort that held the Jackets' shooting to just a smidgen over 31 percent from the field, the Tomcat offense shot a frigid 28.8 percent, that kept Thiel at arm's length for the duration of the contest.
The Tomcat women won the battle of the boards 46-to-41, but turned the ball over 24 times to Waynesburg's 14.
Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland) led the visiting Tomcats with a team-high 12 points, while amassing four blocked shots.
Forward
Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) led both teams with 12 boards.
The women return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 10 when they head to Grove City to face the Wolverines in a 6 p.m. match up.
