WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 8, 2010) – Senior
Sean Devinney (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) led Thiel's four-double-digit scorers with 17 points Monday night as the Tomcats cruised to a, 78-54, win over Waynesburg University at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
The win moves Thiel to 12-9 on the season with a 5-4 mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The Yellow Jackets, on the other hand, fall to 2-17 on the year including an 0-9 mark in league play.
Waynesburg didn't put up much resistance as Thiel won their sixth-consecutive contest; the home-standing Yellow Jackets led only once – by two points 15 seconds into the game – before the Tomcats took control.
While the Jackets managed to tie the score at the 12:36 mark of the first half, Thiel built leads as large as 14 points before entering the intermission with a, 37-25, advantage.
The Tomcats opened the second half on fire, going on a 13-to-4 run to put the game out of reach. Thiel led by as many as 29 points in the second period.
Thiel was solid on both end of the floor, shooting 43.8% from the floor while holding Waynesburg to 31.7% shooting and forcing 19 turnovers. The Tomcats turned Jackets miscues into 20 points on the evening.
The Blue and Gold also did work on the boards, out-rebounding Waynesburg, 47-35, including a 17-to-12 margin on the offensive glass. Thiel wound up with an impressive 15 second-chance points in the game.

Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) and
Cory Chaffee (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) each scored in double figures with 14, 13, and 11 points, respectively.
Ben Altmeyer led Waynesburg with 10 points.
Thiel returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Grove City for an 8 p.m. contest.
