GREENVILLE, Pa. — Thiel's women's tennis team was shut out by Waynesburg for the second time this season, 9-0.
Despite the loss, the inexperienced Tomcats continue to show improvement as the season progresses. Coach Tim Dunford's squad was able to triple the amount of games it won from six in the first meeting with the Yellow Jackets to 18 Friday.
Marcy Lee (Mckeesport, Pa., South Allegheny) made a run against Waynesburg's Kelsey Diesel at No. 4 singles before falling 6-3, 6-3, while teammate
Amy Nacey (Delmont, Pa., Greensburg-Salem) fell to the Yellow Jackets' Jenny McAndrews 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Katey Williams (Shelocta, Pa., Elderton) and Nacey had a good performance in second doubles, losing to Diesel and Lee 8-3.
Thiel (0-8) returns to action Sunday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson.
