Adams, Devinney lead Thiel men to 93-69 win over Geneva

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 27, 2010) – The Thiel College men's basketball team evened its record at 9-9 Wednesday evening with a sound, 93-69, drubbing of visiting Geneva College. Thiel is now 5-1 at Beeghly Gymnasium this season and has won it past four home contests by a combined 89-point margin.
After a tight first half which ended with the Golden Tornadoes trailing, 33-27, the Tomcats opened the second period with a seven-minute 20-to-5 run to cruise to the win.
Thiel scored 36 points in the paint but, its 30 points off of Geneva turnovers and 15 second-chance points accounted for nearly half of its scoring total.
Junior Devon Adams (Philadelphia/George Junior Republic) paced the Tomcats' 53.3% shooting night from beyond the arc with a 5-of-9 performance which racked up 15 of his game-high 26 points.
Senior Sean Devinney (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) (Arsenal, Pa./Central Catholic) was also red-hot, converting on 9-of-10 shots from the floor en route to a season-high 22 points. Freshman Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio/Kennedy Catholic) – who had only four points at the intermission – finished with 18 points in addition to a game-high seven rebounds.
The Tomcat defense allowed Geneva to shoot 44.4% from the floor but, forced 21 turnovers. Rozenblad grabbed a career-high six of Thiel's 14 steals.
Thiel returns to action on Saturday when it visits Washington & Jefferson for a 4 p.m. game.
