PITTSBURGH, PA. (November 17, 2009) -- The Thiel College women unleashed a suffocating style of defense on the Carlow University Celtics en route to a 63-57 victory Tuesday.

For the second time in as many games, the Tomcats held their opponent's shooting percentage below the 35% mark, as well as forcing 16 turnovers.

Thiel College wunderkind, Kelly Barzack (Warren, Ohio/Howland) scored a game-high 18 points, to go along with eight rebounds, while senior swing, Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Wilkinsburg) (Pittsburgh, Pa./Wilkinsburg) tallied 16 points and snatched a game-high nine boards.

The Tomcat backcourt proved to be nothing short of stifling as Kacey Landis (Williamsfield, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) patrolled the passing lanes tallying a game-high three steals, while Rianne Thornton (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) amassed two blocked shots, two steals and eight points.

The Women of Thiel hoops head to Edinboro, Pa. Tuesday, Nov. 24 to face the Fighting Scots for a 5:30 p.m. match up.
