Greenville, Pa (January 7, 2008) -- The Thiel College Women's basketball team dropped their third conference game of the season to the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College, 82-46, Wednesday.
The first nine minutes of the game saw the Presidents jumping out to a 24-8 lead, but the Tomcats, lead by Towanda-Michelle Warren's 14 point first half, brought the score with in seven with five minutes to go until halftime. This would be the closest Thiel came to Washington and Jefferson however, as the President's shot their lead back to double digits by the time the buzzer sounded. The second half saw the Tomcats being outscored 46-23, keeping the President's conference record an unblemished 4-0.
Warren scored a game-high 18 points, while
Catie Sieber (Glenshaw, Pa./North Hills) and
Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) chimed in eight and six respectively.
Washington and Jefferson had three players reach double figures, led by Veronica Kust's 13 points and two blocks. Kennan Killeen and Emily Hays scored 12 points each, and forward, Maggie Gibson, was on the cusp of a double-double, with seven points and eight rebounds.
The women return to action Saturday, January 10 when the St. Vincent Bearcats make the trip to Greenville for the first of two match ups this season.
