Golden Tornadoes Prove No Match for the 'Cats

Greenville, Pa (January 17, 2008) -- The Thiel College women's basketball team fought off a late charge by the visiting Geneva College Golden Tornadoes to take the 74-60 win.

Through the first 25 minutes of the contest the 'Cats outplayed Geneva in every facet of the game, going up by as many as 20 points in the second half.  After the 13 minute mark however, the women of Thiel became complacent and began to witness their once insurmountable lead vanish with each tick of the game clock.  The Golden Tornadoes began to feed on every Tomcat missed opportunity, and raced out to a 32-15 run over the next ten minutes, bringing them within three points of the lead with a little over two minutes to go.

The Tomcats, lead by Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) and Towanda-Michelle Warren (Solon, OH/Solon), answered the bell with a 14-0 run of their own, ending Geneva's hopes for a miracle.

Warren finished the day with 21 points, six rebounds, five steals and a game-high five assists, while Bodrick dropped in 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists and blocked three shots.  Hertimage, Pa.-native Kim Stitt (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) contributed 11 points, six rebounds and two steals in the effort.

Thiel out rebounded Geneva 43-32 and forced a total of 12 turnovers.

Head coach, Artina "Peachy" J. Trader, leads her 'Cats to Grove City, Pa. to face the Wolverines Jan. 21, for a 6 p.m. match up.
