30 Turnovers Spell Thiel's Sixth Loss

Greenville, Pa (January 10, 2009)  -- The Thiel College women's basketball team dropped their fourth straight game at Beeghly Gymnasium 65-52 to the Saint Vincent Bearcats.

After falling behind the Bearcats 7-23 in the first half,Thiel, lead by a couple of shots from beyond the arc by Jena Cook (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) cut the deficit to 25-31 by halftime.  The second half saw the Tomcats fighting even up the game at 41 on a three by cook, but Thiel turnovers kept them from ever getting over the hump.

Cook lead the Tomcats knocking down four from beyond the arc for a total of 13 points in 17 minutes of action, while senior forward Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) tallied 13 points and nine rebounds.  Freshman Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and three steals, with Towanda-Michelle Warren (Solon, OH/Solon) scoring seven points and blocking two shots.

Saint Vincent was lead by Emily Fenton's 16 points and six assist, while Maura Wahl scored a game high 19 points.

Thiel gave up 30 turnovers while forcing 17 and outrebounded the Bearcats 46-28.

The women head to New Wilmington Jan. 14 for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Westminster College Titans.  The Tomcats haven't lost a road game since Nov. 21.
