GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2008) – The Thiel women's soccer team played into double overtime for the second consecutive match, this time in a, 1-1, draw at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
The host Bobcats lead for most of the match thanks to a Britney Hamill goal in the contest's 15th minute, but freshman Rebecca Cardillo (Munhall, Pa./Steel Valley) (Munhall, Pa./Steel Valley) fired the Tomcats' first tally of the young season to set what would become the final score. Freshman Katie Pajestka (West Farmington, Ohio/Bristol) (West Farmington, Ohio/Bristol) was credited with the assist.
Reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week, goalkeeper Jill Harry (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell), turned in a typically solid performance, despite allowing her first goal of the year. Six other Pitt-Greensburg shots on goal resulted in saves.
Thiel (0-0-1) returns to action on Sunday when they will host Muskingum at Alumni Stadium. The game is slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
