THIEL WOMEN SUFFER FOURTH-STRAIGHT LOSS, FALL TO W&J 87-66

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 9) -- The Thiel College women's basketball squad was dealt its fourth-straight loss Saturday afternoon, suffering an 87-66 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) defeat by Washington & Jefferson College.

W&J (16-5, 9-2) had three players finish in double figures, led by Maggie Gibson's 14 point, 14 rebound effort. Stephanie Smith added 13 points and four assists while Maria Hillenbrand also chipped in with 13 points in 13 minutes off of the President's bench. The visitors shot 54.0 percent (34-63) from the field and finished with a 56-29 rebounding advantage.

Sophomore forward Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) finished with a game-high 16 points and five rebounds for Thiel (7-13, 4-8). Freshman forward Kim Stitt (Hermitage/Hickory) (Hermitage/Hickory) added 12 points and nine rebounds while junior guard Jena Cook (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) (Brookville/Brookville) added 10.

W&J, leading 54-35 at the half, opened the second outscoring Thiel 15-7 and pushed its lead to 27, 69-42, with just over 12 minutes to play.

Thiel returns to PAC action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 when it hosts Saint Vincent College at Beeghly Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
