THIEL WOMEN FALL AT HOME TO GENEVA 62-47

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 20) -- The Thiel College women's basketball team fell at home to visiting Geneva College 62-47 Wednesday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium.

Geneva's (20-4) Renee Rawding led the Golden Tornadoes with 22 points and six rebounds. Allyson Clarke added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Geneva shot 33.9 percent (20-59) from the field and 18-of-21 (85.7%) from the free throw line.

Thiel (7-16) sophomore forward Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) paced the Tomcats with 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. Freshman forward Kim Stitt (Hermitage/Hickory) (Hermitage/Hickory) added 10 points and seven rebounds. The Tomcats shot just 25.8 percent (16-62) from the floor and went just 1-of-11 (9.1%) from three-point range. The Tomcats finished with a 51-38 advantage on the glass.

Junior guard Catie Sieber (Glenshaw, Pa./North Hills)'s (Glenshaw/North Hills) jumper with 5:12 to play in the first gave the Tomcats a 16-15 advantage. Geneva outscored Thiel 10-2 over the following 3:58 and went up by seven, 25-18, on Clarke's layup with 1:14 before the half. The Golden Tornadoes went into the half leading 28-22.

Thiel opened the second half on a 13-4 run and took a three-point lead, 35-32, with 14:32 to play on a layup by junior guard Jena Cook (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) (Brookville/Brookville). A pair of Rawding free throws with 11:30 remaining put Geneva up two, 39-37, and keyed a 15-0 run by the Golden Tornadoes that helped stretch their lead out to 15, 52-37, with just under seven minutes to play.

The women's basketball team concludes it Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season on Saturday, Feb. 23 when it travels to rival Grove City College. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
