Greenville, Pa. (December 3, 2008) -- Up seven, with less than five minutes to go, the Thiel College women's basketball team couldn't manage to hold on, dropping a heartbreaking 64-66 PAC match to the Yellow Jackets.
At the 4:32 mark of the fourth quarter, leading Waynesburg 62-55, the Tomcats found out that in the game of basketball, no lead is safe. With the clock ticking away, it seemed like nothing the Tomcat's threw at Yellow Jackets could stop their late charge. As each minute melted away, Waynesburg inched closer and closer, until Yellow Jacket guard, Elisha Jones', knocked in the game winning jump shot with two seconds to go.
Senior forward,
Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney), led the way for the 'Cats tallying 23 points and grabbing seven boards, while freshman forwards
Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) and
Towanda-Michelle Warren (Solon, OH/Solon) contributed 10 points and 11 points respectively.
The Tomcat's will be looking to bounce back, when they return to Beeghley Gymnasium Dec. 6 for a 1 p.m. match up with the defending PAC champion Thomas More Saints.
