Hiram, Ohio (December 13, 2008) -- Defense was key as the Thiel College women's basketball team picked up its fifth win of the season defeating the Hiram Terriers, 51-37.
The Tomcat's never looked back after Ashley Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) sunk a jumper in the first couple minutes of action. What was to follow was a defensive performance that held the Terriers to shooting 24% from the field, while coughing up the ball 16 times.
Leading the way for Thiel was Tomcat forward, Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney), who filled the stat sheet scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, two blocked shots and three steals, while senior guard, Catie Sieber (Glenshaw, Pa./North Hills), dropped in a team-high 14 points. Davis contributed nine points and grabbed six boards while Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Wilkinsburg) grabbed 8 rebounds.
The Tomcat's will christen the new year with a January 3 matchup at Bethany College to face the Bison.
