Greenville, Pa. (November 29, 2008) -- Women's basketball picked up their third victory of the season after dismissing the Kenyon College Ladies, 72-62, turning Beeghly Gymnasium into a house of thrills.
The game was much closer than the final score would indicate, with the lead changing hands a total of eight times throughout. Then, with less than ten minutes to go in the second half, the Ladies went up 45-49 on the Tomcats after two Laura Stokes free throws. This last shift on the scoreboard seemed to ignite Thiel, as they dismantled Kenyon with a 27-13 run to finish out the game.
The Tomcats were lead by senior forward,
Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney), who put on an excellent all-around performance stuffing the stat sheet with 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals. Bodrick also finished the day shooting 8-8 from the charity stripe. Freshmen forward,
Towanda-Michelle Warren (Solon, OH/Solon), seemed to put in clutch basket after clutch basket, finishing the day with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, while senior guard,
Jena Cook (Brookville, Pa./Brookville), scored nine off the bench.
Kenyon College had four players reach double figures, lead by Morgan Korienk's 14 points and six rebounds.
The Tomcats return to action Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. when the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg make the two hour trek to Greenville, Pa. for Thiel's first taste of conference play.
