Stitt and Defense Thwart St. Mary

Bluffton, Ohio (November 22, 2008) -- The Thiel College women's basketball team is headed back to Greenville with a .500 record after defeating St. Mary of the Woods 73-54.

Sophmore forward Kim Stitt (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) continued her excellent tournament performance by scoring 14 points, grabbing 10 boards and blocking five shots.  The Hickory native was later named to the all-tournament team after averaging 10.5 points, 12 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals over the past two days.

The Tomcats had a season-high five players reach double digits in scoring, with senior, Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) leading the charge with 16, while seniors Catie Sieber (Glenshaw, Pa./North Hills) and Jena Cook (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) scored 11 and 13 respectively.  Freshman forward Towanda-Michelle Warren (Solon, OH/Solon) contributed 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting to the victory.

The Tomcats defense stifled St. Mary holding them to shooting 30 percent from the field and turning the ball over 25 times.

The Tomcat women return to action Saturday Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. when Kenyon College makes the trip to Greenville, Pa.
