Late scoring chances thwarted in, 3-0, loss

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Geneva College downed the Tomcats, 3-0, in women's soccer action Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium.
The match was scoreless for much of the first half, before Geneva's Amanda Caler scored the eventual game-winner in the 34th minute on a penalty kick. Geneva's third goal and final goal of the evening – tallied in the 61st minute – was also on a penalty kick.
Thiel registered three shots on goal in the match, with two of those coming within a split second of one another. As regulation drew to a close, Thiel's Rachel Finch (Beaver Falls, Blackhawk) fired a close range shot that deflected off of the Geneva keeper and to the toe of Victoria Woodward (Buxton, Maine, Greater Portland Christian).
A Geneva defender stepped between the shot and the cage to prevent a Thiel goal.
Thiel plays host to Saint Vincent College on Saturday to close out its season. Senior Day ceremonies honoring Jamie Dawson (Beaver Falls/Riverside), Margaret Morris, and Tahnee Gruskiewicz (Williamsfield, Ohio/Pymatuning Valley) will be held prior to the game.
