SECOND HALF SURGE DOES IN THIEL WOMEN 87-58 AGAINST THOMAS MORE

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 30) -- The fifth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball squad led by 10, 41-31, after one half of action against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Thiel College Wednesday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium. The Saints found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring the Tomcats 46-27 in the final 20 minutes to cruise to the 87-58 victory over the Tomcats.

Thomas More (18-0, 9-0) was paced by Jayme Thiem's 24 point, four rebound, four steal evening. Tandrea Sellers added 20 points while Nicole Dickman finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. The Saints shot 52.4 percent (33-63) from the floor and 90.9 percent (16-17) from the free throw line and finished with a 41-24 advantage in rebounds.

Junior guard Amber Bodrick (Boardman, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) and junior guard Catie Sieber (Glenshaw, Pa./North Hills) (Glenshaw/North Hills) each finished with 14 points. Bodrick also added nine rebounds and five assists. Sophomore forward Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) added 10. The Tomcats shot 39.3 percent (22-56) from the field.

Thiel (7-10, 4-5), tied 10-10 with 14:39 to go in the first, watched Thomas More push its lead to 23-14 with just under 10 minutes to play in the opening half. The Tomcats cut the lead down to six (32-26) with 2:38 to go in the first before the Saints went into the break with a 41-31 advantage.

Jones' jumper with 18:44 to play brought the Tomcats back to within 10 (43-33). Thomas More outscored Thiel 17-4 over the next 5:18 and swelled its lead to 23 (58-35) with just over 14 minutes remaining.

Thiel returns to PAC action on Saturday, Feb. 2 when it travels to Chatham University. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
