HUNTINGDON, Pa. (Jan. 2) -- The Thiel College women's basketball squad started the 2008 portion of its schedule with a 68-62 victory at Juniata College Wednesday evening. Sparking the Tomcats' win was junior guard
Catie Sieber (Glenshaw, Pa./North Hills) (Glenshaw/North Hills), who finished with a career-high 18 points in 19 minutes of action. Sieber also added six rebounds and was 3-for-4 from three-point range.
Also scoring in double figures for the Tomcats (5-4) were junior guard Amber Bodrick (Boardman, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) and freshman forward Kim Stitt (Hermitage/Hickory) (Hermitage/Hickory). Bodrick totaled 12 points and four rebounds while Stitt added 13 points and five boards. Sophomore forward Jasmin Jones (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) (Pittsburgh/Wilkinsburg) and senior forward Elysa Farrell (Greenville/Kennedy Catholic) (Greenville/Kennedy Catholic) chipped in with eight and seven rebounds, respectively, while freshman guard Tressa Scahill (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) added five assists. The Tomcats finished with a 42-36 advantage on the glass, shot 43 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range.
Jen Hnatuck led the Eagles (5-4) with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Thiel is set to return to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Saturday, Jan. 5 when it plays host to Bethany College. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
