Matt secured a 4-1 decision at 165 pounds over the University of Mount Union’s Joe Spooner, last year’s Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) runner up at 157 pounds, to tie Saturday’s dual with the eighth-ranked Purple Raiders at 9-9 after the Tomcats had suffered three straight individual match losses … the Purple Raiders went on to earn a 16-15 win after the match was forced to be decided by tiebreaker … Matt was named a Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) after his junior campaign … he has earned Dean’s List recognition following each of his six semesters and has earned a spot on the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll after each of his three seasons.
