Bill Wightman

Bill Wightman is entering his third season as the head coach of the Tomcats in 2024.

Wightman was Thiel's assistant coach for two years before becoming the head coach.

The Tomcats reached the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship game in 2021. The team's defense allowed just 9.7 goals per game in the regular season, and five Tomcats earned All-PAC accolades, including Ashyln Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) and Madison Ligget (Baltimore, Md./Catholic)

Wightman has coached lacrosse at a variety of levels since 1993. Prior to coaching at Thiel College, he was the boys varsity head coach at Shaler Area High School from 2016-20. He served as the boys junior varsity head coach and was an assistant varsity coach at Shaler before becoming the boys varsity head coach. From 1994-98, he served as an assistant coach at Bethel Park High School. 

Wightman also brings multiple years of playing experience. He was a member of the Philadelphia Box Lacrosse Association, the Pittsburgh Lacrosse Club, and Shaler Area High School.
