Dan McMillen is in his first season as head coach of the Thiel College women’s bowling team.
McMillen also serves as head coach for Thiel’s men’s and women’s golf teams. McMillen has served as the Assistant Golf Professional at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Hermitage, Pa. since 2011.
Prior to 2011, McMillen was the club and teaching professional at the Greens of Greenville (Greenville Country Club) for 19 years. He is truly a homegrown product having graduated from Reynolds High School and Thiel College in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. McMillen was a four-year letter winner with Thiel’s golf team, earning All-PAC honors his senior year.
McMillen earned “Class A” status with the PGA of America in April of 1996. Since then, he has provided individual and clinical instruction to hundreds of regional golfers with a special emphasis in junior golf. At Thiel, McMillen has mentored Kayla Langer, Matt Fiore and Bryan Smith, who earned all-conference honors.
McMillen has played alongside notable professional golfers, including Fuzzy Zoeller, Scott Verplank, Blaine McCallister, Mark Brooks, John Cook and Natalie Gulbis. He received the Tri-State PGA’s Bill Strausbaugh Award in 2013 for his commitment to the game of golf and golf business.
McMillen also has the distinction of being the first and only PGA Professional to record two holes-in-one on the same hole in the same day. That occurred on March 12, 2007 at the King and the Bear Golf Club in St. Augustine, Fla.
Dan and his wife, Kim ’87, reside in Greenville.
