Kevin Pool is in his third year as the head men's and women's cross country coach at Thiel. He also serves as an assistant men's and women's track and field coach.

The 2008 season was Pool's most successful to date with the Tomcats.  He was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Men's Coach of the Year after guiding the team to a program-best second-place finish.  His squads combined for three All-PAC performers in '08, and freshman Richard Peterson earned the program's first conference runner of the week accollade since cross country returned to Thiel in 2007.

Pool, a 2005 Allegheny College graduate, was a three-time NCAA Division III all-American for the Gators. He finished third at the 2005 indoor track and field national championships in the 5,000 meters and posted a pair of top 20 finishes at the cross country national championships. His 10th place finish at the 2003 national championships was the best finish by a male North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) runner.

Pool was a nine-time all-NCAC selection, a seven-time NCAC champion and three times was named the MVP of the NCAC while earning four all-Mideast selections in cross country.  He set five school records while at Allegheny, including marks of 14:32 in the indoor 5,000 meters, 8:21 in the indoor 3,000 meters, and 30:23 in the 10,000 meters.  Over his career he helped lead the Gators to six NCAC team titles and their first appearance at the NCAA cross country championships in 2002.

One of Pools' most recent accomplishments was his time of 2:24.44 at the 2006 Chicago Marathon. He has also holds a U.S.A Track and Field (USATF) Level 1 Coaching Certification.
