2025 Thiel Athletics Hall of Fame class unveiled

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 10) -- Thiel College Athletics announced Friday morning that Kristen Benjamin, Madison Chylik (Smith), Nelton Neal, Joe Roosa, Darrell Satterfield, Jeff Sorenson and Christina Toth will be inducted into the Thiel Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 44th Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, for the Class of 2025.

Kristen Benjamin '05 (Kent, Ohio / Roosevelt) was a tri-sport athlete that earned five All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honors in track & field and basketball while also holding multiple soccer career-and-season records.

Benjamin, a four-time track & field letter winner, was an All-PAC First Team honoree in the discus with a throw of 37.03m, a then-PAC record, and shot put (12.40m) in 2005. She made the All-PAC Second Team in 2004 as she finished second in the same events.

On the hardwood, Benjamin made the All-PAC Second Team in 2005 as she totaled 408 points, which is tied for 12th most in a season in Thiel history, and made 174 field goals, the seventh most in a season for the Tomcats. She was a three-time basketball letter winner.

From the pitch, she earned two letters in goal as she remains the Thiel career record holder in goals against average (1.79) and wins (12). She is second in career shutouts (10) and tied for the single-season shutouts record with six in 2001.

Madison Chylik (Smith) '11 (Valley View, Ohio / Cuyahoga Heights) was a two-time volleyball All-PAC honoree, making the First Team in 2008 and Second Team in 2009.

She is the Thiel career record holder and ninth in PAC history in assists (3,879). She logged 1,218 career digs, the 10th most in Thiel history, and is 1-of-4 Tomcats to ever notch 1,000 career digs and assists. Chylik occupies the top two spots on the Thiel single-season assists leaderboard with 1,091 in 2010 and 1,032 in 2007.

Chylik was the first Thiel women's volleyball player to make an Academic All-America team as she was a CoSIDA All-America Third Team pick in 2010. She was a two-time Academic All-District selection in addition to making the PAC Academic Honor Roll four times.

Nelton Neal '06 (Warren, Ohio / Warren Harding) was a two-time football All-PAC First Team honoree (2003, '05) in addition to being named a Football Gazette All-South Region Honorable Mention in 2005.

Neal was a four-year starter and letter-winner on Thiel's offensive line from 2002-05, making 34 starts. He was a member and key piece of the 2005 PAC Championship team that qualified for the NCAA Playoffs, won a first-round game and produced the Tomcats' first 1,000-yard rusher (Steve Minton). Over his four-year career, the Blue and Gold rushed for 6,322 yards.

Joe Roosa '80 (Salamanca, N.Y. / Salamanca) was a two-time football All-PAC selection, making the Second Team in 1979 and garnering Honorable Mention status in 1978.

Roosa, a four-year letter winner, holds the Thiel career tackles record (404), which is third most in PAC history. He is 1 of just 3 three players in conference history to reach the 400-tackle mark. Roosa holds the league record for single-game sacks (six), doing so against Hiram in 1979.

His 115 tackles in 1979 are the eighth most in a season in Thiel history. His single-game marks of 18 and 16 tackles are good for third and eighth most, respectively, in Tomcats lore.

Darrell Satterfield '06 (Orwell, Ohio / Grand Valley) made the All-PAC Second Team in 2005 as he captained the Tomcats to the PAC Championship and NCAA Playoffs as quarterback. He was an All-PAC Honorable Mention in 2004.

Satterfield holds the Thiel career record for completion percentage (58.4) and is in the top five in touchdown passes, pass efficiency rating, passing yards, completions, attempts and total offense.

In 2005, he set Thiel season records in passing yards (2,804) and touchdown passes (25) while his 2,789 yards of total offense were the third most in program lore. He tied the school single-game touchdown passes record (six) at Carnegie Mellon, a 50-48 triple-overtime Tomcats victory.

Jeff Sorenson '92 (Waterford, Pa. / Fort LeBoeuf) was a four-year letter winner and four-time All-PAC player at quarterback, making the Second Team twice and earning Honorable Mention laurels twice.

Sorenson is third in Thiel history in career total offense (5,558 yards), passing yards (5,303), completions (399) and attempts (854) while his 31 touchdown passes are fourth most in team history. He threw for 334 yards at Grove City in 1988, which is tied for sixth most in Tomcats history.

Christina Toth '01 (Youngstown, Ohio / Austintown Fitch) was a three-time Volleyball All-PAC selection as she made the First Team in 2000 and Second Team in 1998 and 1999 in addition to making the PAC 60th Anniversary Team in 2014. A three-year team captain and team MVP, she also was a four-time PAC Player of the Week.

Toth, a four-year letter winner, is third in Tomcats history in kills (1,193) and is 1-of-7 players in Thiel history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau. Her 350 career blocks are good for third in team history while her marks in hitting percentage (.244) and attempts (3,565) are fourth most in program history.

The Thiel Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will be inducted on Saturday, Jan. 24. More details regarding registration and the event will be announced at a later date.
