GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College Department of Athletics, in adherence with local and state regulations, announced Monday an updated fan attendance policy for the remainder of the 2021 spring semester.
Spectators will not be permitted at indoor facilities, including Beeghly Gymnasium and the Rissell-Schreyer Dome, throughout the remainder of the semester.
From March 10 through March 31, Thiel College students will be permitted to attend athletics contests at outdoor facilities, including Alumni Stadium, the baseball and softball fields at Tomcat Park and the tennis courts located near Passavant Center.
Beginning April 1 and continuing through the final home game of the 2020-21 season, Thiel College students, faculty, staff, as well as student-athletes' friends and family members will be permitted to attend athletics contests at outdoor facilities. Each student-athlete will be permitted to have four guests per game.
Basic mitigation strategies utilized to reduce the spread of COVID-19 will remain in effect for all fans in attendance at all games:
• Fans over the age of two must properly wear a face covering over the mouth and nose.
• Attendees should be seated in pods of not more than 4-6 people while maintaining proper social distancing of six feet.
• Those experiencing any of the following symptoms should refrain from attending games:
- Fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
- Cough or sore throat
- Shortness of breath
- Chills/aches
- Headache
- GI distress (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
- Congestion/runny nose
- Loss of smell/taste
- Fatigue
Fans of opposing teams will not be permitted on campus. In addition, those attending games should refrain from entering other campus buildings without first being health screened and given a wristband. Field access shall be restricted to players, coaches, game officials and other pertinent college officials. Attendees may enter athletics facilities 30 minutes prior to games and are asked to leave no more than 30 minutes after completed contests.
Thiel College reserves the right to amend its spectator policy. Facility occupancy is limited and in deference to local and state regulations.
