BEREA, Ohio – The Tomcat wrestling team finished 8th at the 26th annual John Summa Memorial Tournament, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College Saturday.
The Tomcats finished with 42.0 points and saw four wrestlers earn top six finishes.
Zack Stouffer (Mount Holly Springs, Pa./Carlisle) led the way with his third-place finish at 133 pounds, finishing the day 4-1. He registered a 16-8 major decision over Brockport's Matthias Ellis in the third-place bout.
Jerry Cramer (Indian Head, Pa./Connellsville) went 3-2 and finished fourth at 141 pounds, suffering a 7-0 loss to Trey Weliver of the University of Indianapolis.
Shayduan Velez-Lara (Belcamp, Md./Aberdeen) went 4-2 and finished fifth at 125 pounds, earning a pin fall victory (1:07) over Lake Erie College's Justin Toth in the fifth-place match.
Stephen Ceremuga (Greenville, Pa./Commodore Perry) was sixth at 184 pounds, putting together a 3-1 mark before suffering an injury heading into his final pair of bouts.
Thiel returns to the mat on Friday, February 10 as they're set to participate in the 2012 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Wrestling Championships, which are being hosted by Washington & Jefferson College.
